Mason jar ice cream is pretty much frozen vanilla whipped cream with a pinch of salt. The amount of shaking can greatly determine the consistency of your cream. Have you ever tried making mason jar butter? It takes quite a bit more shaking, but it’s amazing to see the difference.
On Wednesday August 11th at 6 pm EST, we will meet virtually to make Mason Jar Ice Cream and Brownie Bowls together. Are you registered?
We will be making everything from scratch and you are welcome to follow along exactly. However, you can also bake alongside us using your own favorite ice cream, brownie mix, or your favorite brownie recipe if you prefer.
Everyone joining needs:
- Ice cream recipe ingredients (we will be doubling this recipe) or pre-made ice cream
- Brownie recipe ingredients or brownie mix
- Wide mouth quart size mason jar (if making from scratch)
- 2 cupcake pans
- Your favorite ice cream inclusions
- Your favorite ice cream toppings
- Non-stick spray
- Heat-safe bowl
- Saucepan
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Wooden spoon or rubber spatula
If you are baking along with us exactly, you will need to have the following ingredients:
Ice Cream
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 tsp. white sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- pinch of salt
For the full recipe, see Mason Jar Ice Cream. This recipe will produce a vanilla ice cream. Sarah also includes a variety of flavor choices:
- Cookies and Cream. Add 1/2 cup of crushed sandwich cookies.
- Chocolate. Add 2 to 3 teaspoons of unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Strawberry cookie. Add diced strawberries and crushed graham crackers.
- Mint chocolate chip. Add a few drops of peppermint flavoring and mini chocolate chips . Green food coloring, optional.
- Cookie dough. Add chunks of edible cookie dough and mini chocolate chips.
- S’mores. Add mini marshmallows, chocolate chips and crushed graham crackers.
Brownie Bowls
- 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 rounded teaspoon kosher salt, use slightly less if using fine sea or table salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large cold eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
