Dinnertime Delight: A Bake Date Recap

This week, we had our second live bake date — Baked Spaghetti. We have been baking a lot of sweet treats lately, so I thought we would throw in a savory baked dish.

Couldn’t make the event, but want to make this dish at home? You can download the ingredients and steps to follow along here:

Making this recipe your own is very easy and just about any additions or substitutions yield an equally delicious meal. I will sometimes add carrots or mushrooms and parmesan cheese to my sauce. For my younger, pickier eater, she loves eating the plain pasta and cheese, so she is usually full before the final dish is baked.

We also have a fun Unscramble activity that fits well with this dinner theme. I think it’s easiest completed with a grocery store trip to the pasta aisle, but this guide might also help.

Another fun thing that accompanies the pasta theme is making cheese at home. We made a day of learning how cheese is made, visiting our local farm, and making our own queso cheese.

Let us know in the comments if you have any questions of if you would like us to share any other resources.

Please send us photos if you make this dish or any other bake dinner dishes to contactus.bakingwithkids@gmail.com or post on our Facebook post.

Thank you to Paula Deen for sharing this recipe.
