We Made Cheese!

This weekend we made cheese. Before I tell you all about it, I thought I’d share a short Highlights Kids video that we watched first to teach the girls how cheese is made.

With our upcoming Baked Spaghetti Event approaching, I thought it would be a great time to talk to the girls about how cheese is made with a little hands on kitchen fun. Surprisingly, Sophia knew all about how to make cheese from reading book one of The Little House on the Prairie series, but it was fun teaching Maddie all about it and experiencing the process.

That morning, we went to our local farm. We were able to some farm animals, including cows, and the museum of equipment that was used when it operated as a dairy farm in the early 1900s.

Then we got to cheese making at home! We used a Serious Eats recipe and making the cheese way very easy. It was also a lot of fun.
