Have you registered for the upcomping Virtual Bake Date yet? We hope you can make it live.

On Wednesday June 30th at 6 pm EST, we will meet virtually to bake red, white and blue cupcakes in honor of Independence Day. If you can’t make it live, but still want to bake these cupcakes, send us pictures of your dessert to contactus.bakingwithkids@gmail.com.

We will be making everything from scratch and you are welcome to follow along exactly. Later in this post, we will share a detailed list of ingredients and the recipes we are following. However, you are welcome to bake alongside us using your own favorite recipes or pre-packaged mixes.

Everyone joining needs:

  • White Cake Mix or Recipe
  • White Cake Frosting
  • Red and Blue Food Coloring
  • Red, White, and Blue Toppings (like sprinkles, berries, or American Flag/ Patriotic picks)
  • Cupcake Liners (white or festive)
  • Cupcake Pan
  • Measuring Spoons and Cups
  • Whisk or Mixer
  • Rubber Spatula for mixing
  • Offset spatula, piping bag and tip, or spreading knife for icing

We will be going with a very basic cake and frosting recipe intended to give us time to complete the dessert as well as chat about the dos and donts of mixing and baking cupcakes. We will also play a fun game.
